There’s nothing quite like the feeling of lowering your weary body into a pool that is just the right temperature.
That’s why at Rebmann Plumbing, we love helping our clients equip their swimming pool with gas powered pool heating systems. Once you dip your toes into the warm water created by one of these babies, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without one.
The other day, one of our customers asked us how gas pool heaters work because he wanted to gain a better understanding of their advantages. So we thought it might be a good idea to write up a short article where we answer his question and point a few advantages of gas powered pool heating systems.
Gas pool heaters burn either natural gas or liquid propane inside the system’s combustion chamber. Running through this combustion chamber are copper coils which actually contain the water to be heated for your swimming pool water. As the gas burns, swimming pool water passes through these copper coils, and before entering the swimming pool warm at the ideal temperature. Exhaust created by gas combustion process exits the chamber through a flue.
One of the great things about these gas powered heaters is that they operate completely independently of air temperature. It will heat your swimming pool more easily in lower temperatures than with a standard heat pump, which suffers from decreased efficiency in lower temperatures. A gas powered pool heater also provides the added convenience of heating your swimming pool more quickly than a heat pump, which makes it ideal for swimming pool owners who want on-demand heat. Other advantages of gas heaters include low purchase costs and quiet operation.
